St. Philip’s
Theological College, an institution of the Anglican Church of Kenya
(A.C.K.) is located in Maseno, Western Province, Kenya. The college
was founded in 1956 having played a major role in training pastors
and lay
people
for A.C.K. over the years. Alumni of St. Philip’s include a number
of current Kenyan bishops, one of whom is Bishop Simon Oketch of
this Diocese, Maseno North.
Currently, the
College has 34 students enrolled in a three-year diploma program
through St. Paul’s United Theological College, Limuru. The future
goal for the diploma program is 12 students per year for a total of
36 students.
The College,
situated on a beautiful treed seven-and-a-half-acre campus has an
excellent library, highly qualified tutors with a computer center
andbookstore. The hosting of visiting seminarians, monks and priests
energizes the college’s curriculum and student discussions. Other
enterprises such as beekeeping continue to be developed with the
hope of moving the diploma program toward a more sustainable future.
